Ingredients

- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 medium yellow onions, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
For the Dip:
- 1 1/2 cups sour cream
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Chopped fresh chives for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Caramelize Onions: In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onions, salt, and sugar. Cook until deep golden brown and caramelized, about 25–30 minutes. Cool.
- Prepare Dip: In a bowl, mix sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Fold in cooled onions. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
