Description

Indulge in these luscious Creamy Banana Custard Cups for a delightful dessert experience. Velvety custard paired with sweet bananas, topped with whipped cream and a hint of vanilla wafers – a treat for the taste buds!

Ingredients

For the custard:

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Additional:

  • 2 ripe bananas, sliced
  • Whipped cream for topping (optional)
  • Crushed vanilla wafers or graham crackers for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, whisk together milk, sugar, cornstarch, and salt until smooth.
  2. Lightly beat the egg yolks in a separate bowl. Gradually whisk about ½ cup of the hot milk mixture into the yolks to temper, then return the mixture to the saucepan.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened and boiling, about 5–7 minutes. Remove from heat, stir in butter and vanilla.
  4. Let custard cool for 5–10 minutes. Layer in cups with banana slices. Top with whipped cream and crushed wafers. Chill for at least 1 hour before serving.

Notes

  • Infuse milk with a split vanilla bean for added flavor.
  • Try layering custard with fruits like strawberries.
  • Best consumed within 2 days.
