Ingredients

Main Ingredients:

  • 16 oz elbow macaroni
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground mustard (optional)
  • 3 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Optional Topping:

  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook Macaroni: Cook macaroni per package instructions, drain, and set aside.
  3. Make Sauce: Melt butter in a saucepan, whisk in flour, add milk and cream, cook until thickened. Stir in seasonings and cheeses until melted.
  4. Combine and Bake: Mix cooked macaroni with sauce, pour into baking dish. Top with breadcrumb mixture if desired. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden.
  5. Serve: Allow to cool slightly before serving.
