Ingredients
Crescent Rolls
- 1 can (8 oz) crescent roll dough (or 1 tube of crescent roll dough)
Filling
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
- 1/2 cup cooked crab meat (imitation crab works as well)
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Finishing
- 1 tablespoon melted butter (for brushing, optional)
- Fresh parsley (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to ensure easy cleanup and prevent sticking.
- Prepare the Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, cooked crab meat, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard if using, lemon juice, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix thoroughly until well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste, adjusting to your preference.
- Prepare the Crescent Rolls: Unroll the crescent roll dough onto the prepared baking sheet. Gently separate the dough into individual triangles along the perforated lines, being careful not to tear the dough.
- Fill the Crescent Rolls: Place a generous spoonful of the crab and cheese mixture in the center of each dough triangle. Carefully fold the edges over the filling and roll each up tightly, sealing the ends to prevent the filling from leaking during baking. Alternatively, you can fold the dough into a pocket shape or crescent shape according to your preference.
- Bake the Crescent Rolls: Brush the tops of each filled crescent roll with melted butter to add flavor and help them develop a lovely golden crust. Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the rolls are puffed up and golden brown.
- Serve: Remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool for a minute or two. Optionally garnish with fresh parsley for added color and flavor. Serve warm as a delightful appetizer, snack, or side dish.
Notes
- You can substitute imitation crab meat for real crab to reduce cost without sacrificing much flavor.
- Do not overfill the crescent rolls to avoid leakage during baking.
- For a spicy twist, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a few drops of hot sauce to the filling.
- These rolls are best served warm but can be reheated gently in the oven to restore flakiness.
- Ensure cream cheese is softened for easier mixing and smoother filling consistency.
