Description

This elegant Coffee Panna Cotta is a creamy Italian dessert infused with rich brewed coffee and smooth vanilla, set to a perfect silky texture using unflavored gelatin. It’s an indulgent treat that’s easy to prepare and makes a sophisticated finish for any meal.

Ingredients

Liquids

  • 2 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup brewed strong coffee
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Sweeteners and Gelling Agents

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) unflavored gelatin

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Gelatin: Sprinkle gelatin evenly over the 1/2 cup of whole milk in a small bowl. Let it sit undisturbed for 5 minutes so the gelatin can bloom and absorb the milk, becoming soft.
  2. Heat the Cream Mixture: In a medium saucepan, combine the 2 1/2 cups heavy cream, 1/2 cup brewed strong coffee, and 1/2 cup granulated sugar. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the sugar dissolves completely and the liquid is hot but does not reach boiling point.
  3. Combine Gelatin and Cream Mixture: Add the bloomed gelatin mixture to the hot cream mixture and whisk vigorously until the gelatin dissolves fully and the mixture is smooth. Then stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for added aroma and flavor.
  4. Pour Mixture and Chill: Ladle the mixture evenly into ramekins or serving glasses. Allow them to cool to room temperature before placing in the refrigerator. Chill for at least 4 hours or until the panna cotta is set and has a creamy, jiggly texture.
  5. Serve: Once set, serve the Coffee Panna Cotta chilled. Optionally, garnish with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, or caramel sauce to enhance its flavor and presentation.

Notes

  • Ensure the cream mixture does not boil to prevent curdling and to maintain a silky texture.
  • Use freshly brewed strong coffee for the best flavor infusion.
  • The dessert needs at least 4 hours of refrigeration to fully set, preferably overnight for best results.
  • Ramekins or small glasses can be used to serve individual portions elegantly.
  • Optional garnishes such as whipped cream or chocolate shavings add texture and visual appeal.
