Indulge in the classic comfort of Chicken Cordon Bleu with this easy-to-follow recipe. Tender chicken breasts stuffed with ham and Swiss cheese, coated in crispy breadcrumbs, and baked to perfection. Serve with a creamy Dijon sauce for a gourmet touch.

Ingredients

For the Chicken Cordon Bleu:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 slices deli ham
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably Panko)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter (for baking)

For the Dijon Cream Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare Chicken: Pound chicken breasts to ¼-inch thickness. Place ham and cheese on each piece, roll up, and secure with toothpicks.
  3. Dredge: Dredge chicken rolls in flour, egg, and seasoned breadcrumbs.
  4. Bake: Place on a baking sheet, drizzle with oil, and bake for 25–30 minutes.
  5. Make Sauce: Optional Dijon cream sauce – melt butter, whisk in flour, add milk, Dijon, Parmesan, salt, and pepper.
  6. Serve: Serve sauce over warm chicken.

Notes

  • You can prep the chicken rolls ahead and refrigerate before baking.
  • Pair with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
