Description

This Cinnamon Roll Apple Crisp is the ultimate fall dessert mashup! Sweet and tender apples are baked with a brown sugar cinnamon filling and topped with gooey cinnamon roll pieces instead of traditional crumble. It’s cozy, comforting, and perfect for any occasion—especially when served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

For the Apple Filling:

  • 6 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Cinnamon Roll Topping:

  • 1 can (8-count) refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing

  • 2 tbsp melted butter (optional, for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a large mixing bowl, toss the sliced apples with granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Mix until evenly coated.

  3. Transfer the apple mixture to a greased 9×9-inch baking dish or similar oven-safe dish.

  4. Separate the cinnamon rolls and cut each roll into quarters.

  5. Place the cinnamon roll pieces evenly over the top of the apple mixture.

  6. Optional: Brush the tops of the cinnamon roll pieces with melted butter for extra golden color.

  7. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the cinnamon rolls are golden and cooked through and the apples are bubbling.

  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly. Drizzle the included icing over the top while still warm.

  9. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.

Notes

  • Granny Smith apples give a nice tart balance, but you can mix with sweeter varieties for depth.

  • If using homemade cinnamon rolls, make sure they are cut small and not too thick to ensure even baking.

  • Store leftovers covered in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave before serving.
