Description

These festive Christmas Donuts are pillowy soft, baked to golden perfection, and topped with a luscious glaze and holiday-inspired sprinkles. Delightfully simple to prepare, they make the perfect centerpiece for any holiday breakfast, brunch, or dessert table.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Donuts

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

For the Glaze

  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

For Decorating

  • Christmas-themed sprinkles
  • Red and green food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep the Oven and Pan Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a donut pan with nonstick spray or butter to ensure easy release after baking.
  2. Mix the Dry Ingredients In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg until well combined.
  3. Combine the Wet Ingredients In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Make the Batter Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, gently folding until just combined and no streaks of flour remain. Be careful not to overmix, as this can toughen the donuts.
  5. Fill the Donut Pan Spoon the batter into a piping bag or zip-top bag with the corner snipped off. Pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
  6. Bake Bake the donuts in the preheated oven for 12–14 minutes, or until the tops are lightly golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Prepare the Glaze In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until a smooth, pourable glaze forms. If desired, divide and tint the glaze with red and green food coloring for a holiday flair.
  8. Glaze and Decorate Dip the cooled donuts into the glaze, allowing any excess to drip off. Immediately top with Christmas sprinkles. Place on a wire rack to set the glaze before serving.

Notes

  • You can use a mini donut pan for bite-sized treats; reduce the baking time by 2-3 minutes.
  • Let donuts cool completely before glazing to avoid melting the glaze.
  • Feel free to use dairy-free milk and vegan butter to make these donuts vegan-friendly.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
