Ingredients
Cookie Dough:
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
Lava Center:
- 12 chocolate truffles or squares
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Melt butter and chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and chocolate chips together in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Let it cool slightly.
- Mix wet ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Stir in the melted chocolate mixture.
- Add dry ingredients: Sift in flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Mix until a thick dough forms.
- Chill the dough: Refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes. Scoop dough, press a chocolate truffle into the center, wrap dough around it, and place on the baking sheet.
- Bake: Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are set but centers are soft. Cool on pan before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate or espresso powder in the dough.
- Best served warm to enjoy the molten center.
- Store in an airtight container and reheat for 10 seconds in the microwave to revive the lava texture.
