Description

Chocolate Delight is a luscious layered dessert featuring a crunchy pecan crust, a creamy sweetened cream cheese layer, and a rich chocolate and vanilla pudding topping. Finished with whipped topping and optional chocolate syrup drizzle, this no-fuss treat is perfect for gatherings or a decadent family dessert.

Ingredients

Crust

  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 cup toasted pecans, chopped
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Cream Cheese Layer

  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 (8-ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed, divided

Pudding Layer

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 (3.4-ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 1 (3.4-ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix

Topping

  • Remaining whipped topping from container
  • Chocolate syrup, for drizzling (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly coat a 13×9-inch baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Make and Bake Crust: In a mixing bowl, combine the self-rising flour, chopped toasted pecans, and melted butter. Mix until well blended, then press evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the crust is set and lightly golden. Allow it to cool completely before moving on.
  3. Prepare Cream Cheese Layer: Using a mixer, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and continue beating until well combined. Gently fold in 1 cup of the thawed whipped topping until evenly incorporated. Spread this creamy mixture evenly over the cooled crust.
  4. Prepare Pudding Layer: In a separate bowl, whisk together the whole milk with both the instant chocolate and vanilla pudding mixes. Whisk until the mixture thickens, then let it stand for a few minutes to fully set. Once thickened, spread the pudding layer carefully over the cream cheese layer.
  5. Add Final Toppings: Top the pudding layer with the remaining whipped topping, spreading it evenly. If desired, drizzle chocolate syrup over the top for an added touch of sweetness and decoration.
  6. Chill and Serve: Place the assembled dessert in the refrigerator and chill for at least 2 hours to allow the layers to set perfectly. Serve chilled and enjoy!

Notes

  • Be sure to let the crust cool completely to prevent the cream cheese layer from melting.
  • For a nut-free version, replace pecans with additional flour or omit entirely.
  • Use low-fat milk and whipped topping for a lighter version.
  • Chocolate syrup drizzle is optional but adds a nice decorative and flavor touch.
  • This dessert can be prepared a day in advance and refrigerated until serving.
