Description

These Peanut Butter Balls are a delicious no-bake treat combining creamy peanut butter, smooth butter, and powdered sugar, all coated in rich melted chocolate. Perfectly bite-sized, they make an easy and crowd-pleasing dessert or snack that requires minimal preparation and no oven time.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup (283g) creamy peanut butter
  • 6 tablespoons (84g) salted butter (or unsalted butter + 1/4 teaspoon salt)
  • 2 3/4 cups (311g) powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Coating

  • 1 package (10 ounces) chocolate melting chocolate (such as Ghirardelli or Candiquik)

Instructions

  1. Cream Butter & Peanut Butter: In a mixing bowl, use a hand mixer to cream together the peanut butter and butter until the mixture is smooth and well blended, which helps create a creamy base for the balls.
  2. Add Sugar & Vanilla: Gradually add the powdered sugar to the creamed peanut butter and butter mixture, mixing continuously until fully incorporated and smooth. Then stir in the vanilla extract to enhance the flavor.
  3. Prepare Baking Sheet: Line a large cookie sheet with wax paper or parchment paper to prevent the peanut butter balls from sticking during chilling and chocolate coating.
  4. Shape Balls: Scoop 1-inch portions of the peanut butter mixture and roll each portion into a ball with your hands. Place each ball carefully onto the prepared baking sheet. Repeat until all the mixture is used.
  5. Chill: Refrigerate the peanut butter balls for approximately 20 minutes, or until they firm up enough to handle easily for dipping.
  6. Melt Chocolate: Place the chocolate melting wafers in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until the chocolate is melted and smooth. Follow package directions if provided.
  7. Coat with Chocolate: Remove the chilled peanut butter balls from the fridge. Using a toothpick, dip each ball into the melted chocolate to fully coat it. Place the coated balls back onto the lined cookie sheet.
  8. Set & Serve: Allow the chocolate coating to harden completely at room temperature or in the refrigerator. Once set, serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Notes

  • For a firmer texture, chill the balls longer before coating.
  • You can substitute creamy peanut butter with natural peanut butter but expect a slightly different texture.
  • If you prefer a sweeter or less sweet treat, adjust the amount of powdered sugar accordingly.
  • Use good quality melting chocolate for the best taste and appearance.
  • Store leftover peanut butter balls in the refrigerator to maintain freshness and firmness.
