Description

Delightful and fun Chocolate Chip Teddy Bear Cookies made with a classic buttery dough, packed with mini chocolate chips and decorated with chocolate chip noses and candy eyes. Perfect for a playful treat or party snack, these cookies are soft, sweet, and irresistibly cute.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg

Mix-ins and Decoration

  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips
  • Additional chocolate chips and candy eyes for decorating

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prepare for baking.
  2. Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt to evenly distribute the leavening and seasoning.
  3. Cream the Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, beat the softened unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until the mixture becomes light and fluffy. Then add the vanilla extract and egg, beating until fully combined and smooth.
  4. Combine the Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Carefully fold in the mini chocolate chips to ensure they are evenly dispersed throughout the dough.
  5. Shape the Teddy Bears: Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough for the bodies, then smaller portions for the heads and limbs. Assemble each teddy bear shape directly on the prepared baking sheet. Use additional chocolate chips for the nose and candy eyes to decorate each bear.
  6. Bake the Cookies: Bake the teddy bear cookies in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges turn lightly golden. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Ensure butter is softened but not melted for the best cookie texture.
  • Do not overmix dough once dry ingredients are added to avoid tough cookies.
  • Use mini chocolate chips for easier decorating and consistent chocolate distribution.
  • If candy eyes are unavailable, small chocolate chips or icing can be used as a substitute.
  • Cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
