Ingredients
Shrimp Marinade and Filling
- 1 1/2 lb raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tbsp avocado oil
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- Zest of 2 fresh limes
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Wrap and Garnishes
- 8 romaine or butter lettuce leaves
- 1 large avocado, sliced
- 1 handful fresh cilantro leaves
- 1 red chili, thinly sliced
- Fresh juice of 2 limes
- Sea salt, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Shrimp: Peel and devein the shrimp if necessary. In a bowl, combine the shrimp with avocado oil, smoked paprika, ground cumin, minced garlic, lime zest, and freshly ground black pepper. Toss thoroughly to coat the shrimp evenly with the marinade.
- Cook the Shrimp: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque, indicating they are fully cooked. Remove from heat.
- Prepare the Lettuce Leaves: Wash and dry the lettuce leaves carefully to ensure they are crisp and ready to use as wraps. Set aside.
- Assemble the Wraps: Place a few cooked shrimp onto each lettuce leaf. Top with slices of avocado, a sprinkle of fresh cilantro leaves, and thin slices of red chili for a bit of heat.
- Finish and Serve: Drizzle freshly squeezed lime juice over the assembled wraps. Season with sea salt and additional black pepper if desired. Serve immediately to enjoy the fresh, vibrant flavors.
Notes
- For extra heat, add more red chili or a dash of chili flakes.
- Make sure to dry lettuce leaves thoroughly so they don’t become soggy.
- These wraps are best served fresh; avoid prepping too far ahead to maintain crispness.
- Can substitute shrimp with cooked chicken or tofu for a variation.
- Use organic lime and fresh spices for the best flavor.
