Description

Chili Cheese Toast is a deliciously spicy and cheesy snack or appetizer that is quick and easy to make. With a perfect blend of gooey cheese, spicy chili, and flavorful herbs, this Indian-inspired fusion dish is sure to be a hit at any gathering.

Ingredients

Bread:

  • 4 slices of thick bread (such as sourdough or white sandwich bread)

Chili Cheese Mixture:

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 small green chili (finely chopped, adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 cup red onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro or parsley (chopped)
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (softened)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare Cheese Mixture: In a bowl, combine shredded cheese, green chili, red onion, garlic, herbs, chili flakes, salt, and pepper.
  3. Assemble Toasts: Butter one side of each bread slice, place them buttered side down on the baking sheet, and top with the cheese mixture.
  4. Bake: Bake for 10–12 minutes until cheese is melted, bubbly, and edges of bread are golden.
  5. Serve: Serve warm as a snack, appetizer, or side dish.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, broil the toast for 1–2 minutes after baking.
  • You can use mozzarella or a cheese blend for a gooier texture.
  • Adjust chili heat based on your spice preference.
