Ingredients
For the Chicken:
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs (beaten)
- 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 cup olive oil
For Assembly:
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tbsp fresh basil or parsley (chopped)
- Cooked spaghetti or pasta for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Prepare Chicken: Pound chicken breasts to even thickness. Season with salt and pepper. Dredge in flour, then egg, and coat with breadcrumb-Parmesan mixture.
- Cook Chicken: Cook in olive oil in a skillet until golden brown. Transfer to a baking dish.
- Assemble: Top chicken with marinara sauce and mozzarella. Bake until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve: Garnish with basil or parsley. Serve hot over pasta if desired.
