Description

Ingredients

For the Stew:

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 small yellow onion (diced)
  • 2 carrots (sliced)
  • 2 celery stalks (sliced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/4 tsp poultry seasoning
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas (optional)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

For the Dumplings:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
  • 3/4 cup whole milk

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Stew: In a large pot, sauté onion, carrots, and celery. Add garlic, flour, chicken broth, chicken, seasonings, then simmer.
  2. Make the Dumplings: Combine dry ingredients, mix in butter and milk to form dough.
  3. Cook the Dumplings: Drop spoonfuls of dough into the stew, simmer covered for 15 minutes.
  4. Finish the Dish: Stir in peas, cream, adjust seasoning, then serve hot.
