Description

These Chicken Alfredo Air Fryer Calzones are a deliciously easy and quick meal featuring tender cooked chicken mixed with creamy Alfredo sauce and melted mozzarella, all wrapped in golden, crispy pizza dough cooked perfectly in the air fryer. Perfect for a comforting main course that’s kid-friendly and ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Calzone Dough

  • 1 can refrigerated pizza dough

Filling

  • 1 cup cooked chicken breast (shredded or chopped)
  • ½ cup Alfredo sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning

Finishing

  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • Olive oil spray
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: Roll out the refrigerated pizza dough on a lightly floured surface. Cut the dough into 4 equal rectangles or circles to create the calzone bases.
  2. Make the filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked chicken, Alfredo sauce, shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  3. Assemble the calzones: Spoon the chicken Alfredo filling onto one half of each dough piece, leaving a border around the edges to ensure a good seal.
  4. Seal the calzones: Fold the dough over the filling to cover it, then pinch the edges together firmly to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges tightly, preventing the filling from leaking out during cooking.
  5. Add egg wash and oil: Brush the top of each calzone with the beaten egg for a beautiful golden finish. Lightly spray with olive oil to promote crispiness in the air fryer.
  6. Preheat air fryer: Set your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and allow it to preheat before cooking.
  7. Cook the calzones: Place 1 to 2 calzones in the air fryer basket, depending on size and basket capacity. Cook for 8–10 minutes, or until the calzones are puffed up and golden brown on the outside.
  8. Repeat and garnish: Remove cooked calzones and set aside to cool slightly. Repeat with remaining calzones. Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley on top if using, and serve warm with extra Alfredo or marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Use rotisserie chicken as a convenient shortcut to save prep time.
  • Calzones can be frozen before cooking. When air frying from frozen, add 2–3 minutes extra to the cooking time.
  • Serve with additional Alfredo sauce or marinara sauce on the side for dipping to enhance flavor.
