Ingredients
Crust:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 4 large eggs
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Filling and Glaze:
- 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease/flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- Cream butter and sugar: In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and almond extracts.
- Add eggs and dry ingredients: Beat in eggs one at a time, then mix in flour and salt.
- Layer and bake: Spread 2/3 of the batter in the pan, top with cherry filling, then dollop remaining batter. Bake for 35–40 minutes.
- Make glaze and serve: Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and almond extract. Drizzle over cooled bars, cut into squares, and enjoy!
