Description

Delight in these Cherry Cream Cheese Egg Rolls, a luscious dessert featuring smooth cream cheese and sweet cherry pie filling wrapped in crispy egg roll wrappers. Perfectly fried or baked to golden perfection, they are easy to make and wonderful for parties or a sweet treat anytime.

Ingredients

Cream Cheese Mixture

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ⅓ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Filling

  • 1 cup cherry pie filling

Wrappers and Cooking

  • 12 egg roll wrappers
  • Vegetable oil for frying or spray oil for baking
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cream Cheese Mixture: In a medium bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  2. Arrange Wrapper: Lay one egg roll wrapper flat on a clean surface with a corner facing you to facilitate rolling.
  3. Add Filling: Spread about 1 tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture in the center of the wrapper, then top with 1 tablespoon of cherry pie filling.
  4. Roll Egg Rolls: Fold the bottom corner of the wrapper up over the filling, fold in the sides to seal in the filling, then roll tightly upward. Use a bit of water to seal the final edge to prevent opening during cooking.
  5. Repeat: Repeat the filling and rolling process with the remaining wrappers and filling until all 12 egg rolls are prepared.
  6. Fry Egg Rolls (Optional): Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or fryer to 350°F (175°C). Fry 2–3 egg rolls at a time until golden brown and crisp, approximately 2–3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. Bake Egg Rolls (Alternative): Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the egg rolls on a parchment-lined baking sheet, spray lightly with oil, and bake for 12–15 minutes. Flip halfway through baking to ensure even crispiness.
  8. Serve: After cooling slightly, dust the egg rolls with powdered sugar if desired, and serve warm for the best taste.

Notes

  • You can choose to fry or bake these egg rolls; baking is a lighter alternative.
  • Make sure to seal the egg rolls tightly to prevent filling leakage during cooking.
  • Use fresh or store-bought cherry pie filling depending on availability.
  • Serve with a side of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra special dessert.
  • Leftover egg rolls can be stored in the fridge and reheated in the oven to maintain crispiness.
