Ingredients

Bread:

  • 1 large French bread loaf (about 12 inches)

Filling:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 5 ounces fresh spinach (chopped)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 ounces cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the bread: Slice the French bread in half lengthwise and hollow out the center slightly. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Cook the spinach: Sauté garlic in olive oil, add spinach, cook until wilted, season with salt and pepper, then let cool.
  4. Make the filling: Mix cream cheese, sour cream, mozzarella, Parmesan, red pepper flakes, and onion powder. Stir in the cooked spinach mixture.
  5. Fill the bread: Spoon the spinach cheese mixture into the bread halves.
  6. Bake: Bake for 15–18 minutes until cheese is melted. Broil for a golden top if desired.
  7. Serve: Let cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.
