Description

Ingredients

Potatoes:

  • 2 lbs russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced

Cheese Sauce:

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Garnish:

  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Make Cheese Sauce: Melt butter in a saucepan, whisk in flour, then gradually add milk and cream. Stir in seasonings and 1 1/2 cups cheddar until smooth.
  3. Layer: Alternate potatoes and cheese sauce in the dish. Top with remaining cheeses.
  4. Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes, then uncover and bake for 20–25 minutes until golden.
