Description

A rich and creamy cheesy sausage dip made with ground pork sausage, cream cheese, diced tomatoes with green chilies, and shredded cheddar cheese. Perfect as a warm appetizer for parties, game days, or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground pork sausage (spicy or mild)
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 can (10 oz) diced tomatoes with green chilies (such as Rotel), undrained
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • chopped green onions or cilantro for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it into crumbles as it cooks. Drain excess grease if needed.
  2. Melt the Cream Cheese: Reduce heat to low and stir in the softened cream cheese until it is fully melted and combined evenly with the cooked sausage.
  3. Add Remaining Ingredients: Mix in the diced tomatoes with green chilies (undrained), shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, black pepper, and onion powder. Stir continuously until the cheese is melted and the dip is hot and bubbly.
  4. Serve and Garnish: Transfer the dip to a serving bowl or place it in a small slow cooker set to warm. Garnish with chopped green onions or cilantro as desired. Serve warm with tortilla chips, crackers, or fresh vegetables.

Notes

  • To keep the dip warm during a party, transfer it to a slow cooker on the warm setting.
  • For extra heat, use hot sausage or add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the dip.
  • Substitute pepper jack cheese for a spicier flavor variation.
