These Cheeseburger Hobo Foil Packets are a fun and easy way to enjoy all the flavors of a cheeseburger in a convenient, no-fuss meal. Perfect for a camping trip or a simple weeknight dinner, these foil packets are filled with seasoned ground beef, veggies, and gooey cheddar cheese.
Ingredients
For the Beef Patties:
- 1 ½ pounds ground beef
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
For the Packets:
- 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups mixed vegetables (carrots, bell peppers, zucchini)
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 4 tablespoons butter, cut into pieces
- 4 tablespoons ketchup or burger sauce (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) or heat grill to medium-high. Season ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Shape into 4 patties.
- Assemble Packets: Lay out 4 foil sheets. Divide potatoes, mixed vegetables, and onion among them. Place a beef patty on top of each pile, add butter, and sprinkle with cheese. Seal packets tightly.
- Cook: Bake or grill packets for 30-35 minutes until potatoes are tender and patties are cooked. Open packets, add more cheese, let it melt, then serve with sauce and parsley.
Notes
- For easier cleanup, lightly spray foil with cooking spray.
- Add mushrooms or corn for extra flavor.
- Packets can be made ahead and refrigerated.
