Description

These Cheeseburger Hobo Foil Packets are a fun and easy way to enjoy all the flavors of a cheeseburger in a convenient, no-fuss meal. Perfect for a camping trip or a simple weeknight dinner, these foil packets are filled with seasoned ground beef, veggies, and gooey cheddar cheese.

Ingredients

For the Beef Patties:

  • 1 ½ pounds ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

For the Packets:

  • 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups mixed vegetables (carrots, bell peppers, zucchini)
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 tablespoons butter, cut into pieces
  • 4 tablespoons ketchup or burger sauce (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) or heat grill to medium-high. Season ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Shape into 4 patties.
  2. Assemble Packets: Lay out 4 foil sheets. Divide potatoes, mixed vegetables, and onion among them. Place a beef patty on top of each pile, add butter, and sprinkle with cheese. Seal packets tightly.
  3. Cook: Bake or grill packets for 30-35 minutes until potatoes are tender and patties are cooked. Open packets, add more cheese, let it melt, then serve with sauce and parsley.

Notes

  • For easier cleanup, lightly spray foil with cooking spray.
  • Add mushrooms or corn for extra flavor.
  • Packets can be made ahead and refrigerated.
