This hearty casserole is perfect for a family dinner or gathering, offering a satisfying and delicious meal that is sure to please everyone at the table.

Ingredients

Ground Beef Mixture:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 can (4 ounces) diced green chilies

Casserole Layers:

  • 1 can (8 ounces) crescent roll dough
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 can (4 ounces) sliced black olives (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Cook the beef: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and onion until browned. Drain excess grease.
  3. Season the beef: Stir in taco seasoning, water, and green chilies. Simmer until thickened.
  4. Prepare the crust: Press crescent dough into a greased baking dish.
  5. Layer the casserole: Spread meat mixture over the dough. Mix sour cream, mayonnaise, and cheeses; spread over meat. Top with remaining cheese and olives.
  6. Bake: Bake for 25–30 minutes until bubbly and golden. Let rest before serving.

Notes

  • You can use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream or opt for reduced-fat cheese to lighten the dish.
  • Enhance the flavor with chopped bell peppers or jalapeños.
