Description

Indulge in this Caramel Turtle Poke Cake, a decadent chocolate dessert featuring a moist chocolate cake soaked with sweetened condensed milk and caramel sauce, topped with rich chocolate fudge, chopped pecans, and fluffy whipped cream. Perfectly gooey and irresistibly sweet, this cake is a crowd-pleaser for any occasion.

Ingredients

Chocolate Cake

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix plus ingredients listed on the box

Soaking Mixture

  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce

Toppings

  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 cup chocolate fudge sauce
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 1/2 cups whipped topping or whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cake: Preheat oven and prepare the chocolate cake mix according to package directions. Pour the batter into a 9×13-inch baking dish and bake as directed, usually around 30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Poke Holes: While the cake is still warm, take the handle of a wooden spoon and poke holes evenly all over the surface of the cake. Ensure the holes are spaced to allow the liquid to soak throughout.
  3. Pour Soaking Mixture: In a bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk with half of the caramel sauce (1/2 cup). Slowly pour this mixture evenly over the cake, making sure it seeps into all the holes for maximum moistness.
  4. Add Chocolate and Caramel Sauces: Drizzle the chocolate fudge sauce evenly over the top of the soaked cake, then drizzle the remaining 1/2 cup caramel sauce over the cake for extra gooeyness.
  5. Top with Pecans: Sprinkle the chopped pecans evenly over the drizzled sauces, adding a crunchy texture to the dessert.
  6. Chill the Cake: Allow the cake to cool completely at room temperature. Once cooled, spread the whipped topping or whipped cream evenly over the entire surface.
  7. Refrigerate: Place the cake in the refrigerator and chill for at least 2 hours to let all the flavors meld and the cake to set properly.
  8. Serve: Slice into 12 servings and optionally drizzle additional caramel and chocolate sauce over each slice before serving for extra indulgence.

Notes

  • For extra indulgence, drizzle additional caramel and chocolate sauce over each slice before serving.
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator, and consume within 4 days for best freshness.
