Description

These Caprese Puff Pastry Bundles are a delightful twist on the classic caprese salad, featuring gooey mozzarella, juicy cherry tomatoes, and fresh basil wrapped in flaky puff pastry. Perfect for a party appetizer or a special brunch treat!

Ingredients

Puff Pastry Bundles:

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 8 fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini or ciliegine), drained
  • 8 cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 8 fresh basil leaves
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze (plus more for drizzling)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • flour for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare Pastry: Roll out puff pastry on a floured surface into a 12-inch square. Cut into 8 squares.
  3. Assemble Bundles: Place a basil leaf, half a cherry tomato, and a mozzarella ball in the center of each square. Add balsamic glaze, salt, and pepper. Fold corners up and pinch to form a bundle.
  4. Bake: Brush bundles with beaten egg, bake for 18-20 minutes until golden and puffed.
  5. Serve: Cool slightly, drizzle with more balsamic glaze, and serve.

Notes

  • Ensure cheese is well-drained for best results.
  • Bundles can be prepped ahead and refrigerated.
  • Great as an appetizer or brunch dish.
