Description

These Candy Apple Bags are a fun and festive treat perfect for Halloween or any special occasion. Crisp apples are coated in a sweet, red candy shell for a delicious and eye-catching dessert that’s easy to make and share.

Ingredients

For the Candy Apples:

  • 6 small apples (washed and stems removed)
  • 6 wooden sticks or skewers
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup light corn syrup
  • ¾ cup water
  • ½ teaspoon red food coloring
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon extract (optional)

Additional Items:

  • Clear cellophane bags
  • Twist ties or ribbon for sealing

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apples: Insert a wooden stick into the top of each apple through the stem end.
  2. Make the Candy Coating: In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Increase the heat and bring the mixture to a boil without stirring until it reaches 300°F on a candy thermometer (hard crack stage).
  3. Add Color and Flavor: Remove from heat and carefully stir in red food coloring and cinnamon extract if using.
  4. Dip the Apples: Quickly dip each apple into the candy coating, tilting the pan as needed to fully coat. Let excess drip off, then place apples on a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool and harden completely.
  5. Package the Apples: Once set, place each candy apple into a clear cellophane bag and secure with a twist tie or ribbon.

Notes

  • Work quickly when dipping, as the candy coating hardens fast.
  • Use smaller apples for easier coating and packaging.
  • For a festive look, tie with decorative ribbon or add labels.
