Description

A delicious and easy one-pan dinner recipe for Cabbage and Ground Beef Skillet. This hearty dish combines savory ground beef with tender cabbage and flavorful seasonings for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Ground Beef Mixture:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Cabbage Mixture:

  • 1/2 head green cabbage, chopped
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (if needed)
  • Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef with chopped onion until browned and fully cooked, about 6–8 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Add Garlic and Cabbage: Add garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in chopped cabbage and cook for 5 minutes until it begins to soften.
  3. Combine Ingredients: Add diced tomatoes, tomato paste, paprika, oregano, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir well to combine.
  4. Simmer: Cover and simmer on medium-low heat for 15–20 minutes, or until cabbage is tender. Uncover and cook for another 5 minutes to reduce excess liquid, if needed.
  5. Adjust Seasoning and Serve: Taste and adjust seasoning. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving, if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a splash of Worcestershire sauce or a pinch of sugar.
  • Serve with rice or crusty bread for a complete meal.
