Description
This classic Buttered Noodles recipe is a simple and comforting dish made with tender egg noodles tossed in rich, melted butter and lightly seasoned with salt and pepper. Perfect as a quick side dish or a standalone meal, it can be enhanced with optional Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley for added flavor and color.
Ingredients
Primary Ingredients
- 8 oz (about 1/2 lb) egg noodles or pasta of choice (e.g. fettuccine or spaghetti)
- 3–4 tablespoons unsalted butter (adjust to taste)
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Optional Ingredients
- 1–2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook the pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the noodles and cook according to the package directions until al dente. Drain the noodles and return them to the pot to keep warm.
- Add butter and seasoning: Immediately add the butter to the hot noodles and toss well until the butter is fully melted and the noodles are evenly coated. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
- Add optional toppings: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese if using, and sprinkle chopped fresh parsley on top for a burst of color and freshness.
- Serve: Serve the buttered noodles warm as a side dish or a simple main course. They pair beautifully with grilled chicken, vegetables, or can be enjoyed on their own.
Notes
- You can use any type of pasta you prefer, such as fettuccine, spaghetti, or even gluten-free varieties.
- Adjust the amount of butter according to your taste and dietary needs.
- For a richer flavor, try using browned butter instead of regular melted butter.
- Adding Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley is optional but highly recommended for extra taste and presentation.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated gently, adding a splash of water or broth to prevent sticking.
