Description

Learn how to make delicious Butter Popcorn at home with this simple stovetop popcorn recipe. Freshly popped kernels drizzled with melted butter and a sprinkle of salt, perfect for movie night or a tasty snack anytime.

Ingredients

Popcorn:

  • ½ cup popcorn kernels

Butter Mixture:

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons neutral oil (like vegetable or canola oil)
  • ½ teaspoon salt (or to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Popcorn: In a large, heavy-bottomed pot with a lid, heat the oil over medium heat. Add 2 to 3 popcorn kernels and cover. When they pop, add the remaining kernels in an even layer.
  2. Cover the pot, remove it from the heat for 30 seconds to evenly heat the kernels, then return it to the burner.
  3. Shake the pot occasionally as the popcorn pops. When popping slows to about 2 seconds between pops, remove from heat.
  4. Coat with Butter: In a separate saucepan or microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter. Pour the popped popcorn into a large bowl, drizzle with melted butter, and sprinkle with salt. Toss to coat evenly and serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, try using clarified butter or add a sprinkle of nutritional yeast or grated parmesan.
  • Use a popcorn maker for convenience if preferred.
