Ingredients
Popcorn:
- ½ cup popcorn kernels
Butter Mixture:
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons neutral oil (like vegetable or canola oil)
- ½ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
Instructions
- Prepare the Popcorn: In a large, heavy-bottomed pot with a lid, heat the oil over medium heat. Add 2 to 3 popcorn kernels and cover. When they pop, add the remaining kernels in an even layer.
- Cover the pot, remove it from the heat for 30 seconds to evenly heat the kernels, then return it to the burner.
- Shake the pot occasionally as the popcorn pops. When popping slows to about 2 seconds between pops, remove from heat.
- Coat with Butter: In a separate saucepan or microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter. Pour the popped popcorn into a large bowl, drizzle with melted butter, and sprinkle with salt. Toss to coat evenly and serve warm.
Notes
- For extra flavor, try using clarified butter or add a sprinkle of nutritional yeast or grated parmesan.
- Use a popcorn maker for convenience if preferred.
