Description

These Burrata and Steak Crostini are an elegant appetizer featuring toasted baguette slices topped with creamy burrata cheese and tender, medium-rare steak. Enhanced with fresh herbs and optional crushed red pepper flakes, they offer a perfect balance of creamy, savory, and crunchy textures ideal for entertaining or a sophisticated snack.

Ingredients

Bread

  • 1 large baguette, sliced into ½-inch rounds
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Cheese

  • 8 ounces burrata cheese, torn into small pieces

Steak

  • 1 medium steak (about 10 oz), cooked to medium-rare and thinly sliced
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Garnish

  • 2 tablespoons fresh chives or parsley, chopped
  • Optional: Pinch of crushed red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare for toasting the baguette slices evenly and to desired crispness.
  2. Prepare Baguette Slices. Brush the baguette slices with olive oil on both sides and arrange them on a baking sheet so they toast evenly.
  3. Toast Bread. Place the baking sheet in the oven and toast the baguette slices for 8–10 minutes, flipping them halfway through to achieve a uniform golden and crisp texture.
  4. Cook Steak. While bread is toasting, season the steak with salt and black pepper. Sear it in a hot skillet for 3–4 minutes per side to reach medium-rare, then remove and let it rest before slicing thinly to retain juiciness.
  5. Assemble Crostini. Place a spoonful of torn burrata cheese on each toasted baguette slice, then top with a thin slice of cooked steak.
  6. Add Garnishes. Sprinkle each crostini with chopped fresh chives or parsley for freshness and add a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes if you desire a slight spicy kick.
  7. Serve. Serve the crostini immediately while the bread is still warm and crisp for optimal texture and taste.

Notes

  • Use a good quality fresh baguette for the best texture and flavor.
  • The steak can be substituted with grilled or roasted beef steak as desired.
  • For a milder option, omit the crushed red pepper flakes.
  • Ensure the steak rests after cooking to keep it tender and juicy.
  • Serve crostini promptly to preserve the crispness of the toasted bread.
