Ingredients
For the Burger Patties
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/3 cup buffalo wing sauce
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 1 fresh jalapeño, finely diced, seeds removed for less heat
For Cooking and Assembly
- 2 tablespoons olive oil for cooking
- 4 burger buns, toasted
- 1/4 cup blue cheese crumbles (optional)
- Lettuce leaves
- Sliced tomato
- Ranch or blue cheese dressing for serving
Instructions
- Prepare the Burger Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika, buffalo wing sauce, breadcrumbs, egg, and diced jalapeño. Mix gently until just combined to avoid tough patties.
- Shape the Patties: Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a burger patty, ensuring they are evenly sized for consistent cooking.
- Cook the Patties: Heat olive oil in a large skillet or grill pan over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for 5 to 6 minutes per side, until fully cooked through and nicely browned. Use a meat thermometer to ensure internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Melt the Cheese (Optional): During the last minute of cooking, sprinkle blue cheese crumbles on top of each patty, allowing them to melt slightly for enhanced flavor.
- Assemble the Burgers: Place each patty on a toasted burger bun. Top with lettuce leaves, sliced tomato, and a drizzle of ranch or blue cheese dressing. Serve immediately while hot and juicy.
Notes
- For extra heat, leave the jalapeño seeds in or add a dash of cayenne pepper to the burger mixture.
- Ground turkey can be substituted for chicken for a slightly different flavor.
- These patties can also be grilled instead of cooking on the stovetop.
- Blue cheese topping is optional but adds a nice creamy contrast to the spicy flavors.
