Description
This Buffalo Chicken Grilled Cheese recipe combines spicy buffalo chicken with creamy cheeses and crispy grilled bread, creating a perfect comfort food sandwich with a flavorful kick.
Ingredients
Buffalo Chicken Mixture
- 2 Cups Cooked Chicken Breasts, shredded
- 2 teaspoons Minced Garlic
- ¼ teaspoon Cayenne Pepper (Optional)
- 1 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
- ½ teaspoon Paprika
- ½ Cup Franks Hot Sauce
- ½ Cup Homemade Ranch Dressing or your favorite store-bought brand
Cheese Spread
- 4 Oz Cream Cheese (softened)
- 4 tablespoon Crumbled Blue Cheese
- ½ teaspoon Paprika
- 1 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
- ¼ teaspoon Cayenne Pepper (Optional)
Sandwich Assembly
- 8 Slices Sandwich Bread
- 4-8 Slices Muenster Cheese
- 4 tablespoon Butter (for grilling)
Instructions
- Prepare Cheese Spread: In a small bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, crumbled blue cheese, paprika, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using). Mix well until smooth and set aside.
- Mix Buffalo Chicken: In another bowl, thoroughly mix the shredded cooked chicken with the Franks hot sauce, ranch dressing, and minced garlic until the chicken is well coated with the sauce.
- Assemble Sandwiches: Butter one side of each bread slice. On the unbuttered side of four slices, spread the cheese mixture evenly. Then, layer the buffalo chicken mixture over the cheese, followed by slices of Muenster cheese. Top each with the remaining bread slices, buttered side out, to form sandwiches.
- Grill Sandwiches: Heat a skillet over low heat. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook slowly until the bread is golden brown and crispy on one side, then carefully flip and grill the other side until also golden and the cheese has melted inside. This should take about 4-5 minutes per side.
- Serve: Remove sandwiches from skillet and let cool slightly. Serve warm with extra buffalo sauce, ranch dressing, or blue cheese dressing on the side for dipping.
Notes
- Using low heat when grilling ensures the cheese melts evenly without burning the bread.
- The cayenne pepper is optional and can be adjusted based on your spice preference.
- For a lighter option, use whole wheat bread and low-fat cream cheese.
- Leftover grilled cheese sandwiches can be reheated in a skillet for a crispy exterior.
- Feel free to substitute Muenster cheese with mozzarella or cheddar for different flavor profiles.
