Description

Indulge in the rich sweetness of homemade Brown Sugar Caramel Sauce. This easy-to-make sauce is perfect for drizzling over ice cream, cakes, or using as a dip for fruit. With just a handful of ingredients, you can create a decadent topping that will elevate any dessert.

Ingredients

Brown Sugar Caramel Sauce:

  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar, butter, and heavy cream. Stir constantly until the butter is melted and the mixture begins to bubble.
  2. Continue to cook for 4–5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens slightly.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the salt and vanilla extract.
  4. Let cool slightly before using. The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools.

Notes

  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  • Reheat gently in the microwave or on the stovetop before serving.
  • For a salted caramel version, increase salt to 1/2 teaspoon or use flaky sea salt to finish.
