Description
Brazilian Lemonade is a creamy and refreshing lime-based drink made by blending whole limes with cold water, sugar, and sweetened condensed milk. This vibrant beverage offers a perfect balance of tart citrus and sweet creaminess, served chilled over ice for a frothy, invigorating treat that’s popular in Brazil.
Ingredients
Ingredients
- 6 cups cold water (preferably filtered or purified)
- 5 limes (cut into wedges, whole with skin)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk (or more to taste)
- Ice (as needed)
- Fresh lime slices (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Blend the Limes: Add the lime wedges, cold water, and granulated sugar into a blender. Blend the ingredients until the limes are thoroughly broken down and the mixture is smooth.
- Strain the Mixture: Place a fine mesh strainer over a large bowl and pour the blended lime mixture through it. Use a spoon to press and extract as much liquid as possible, discarding the remaining pulp and lime pieces.
- Blend with Sweetened Condensed Milk: Rinse the blender to remove any lime residue, then pour the strained lime juice mixture back into the blender. Add the sweetened condensed milk and blend again until the mixture is frothy and fully combined.
- Serve: Fill glasses with ice and pour the Brazilian Lemonade over the ice. Garnish with fresh lime slices if desired and serve immediately while cold and frothy.
Notes
- Use limes with thin skin for a less bitter flavor and better texture.
- Adjust the amount of sweetened condensed milk to make the drink sweeter or creamier as per taste.
- Serve immediately for best freshness and to enjoy the frothy texture.
- Straining is important to avoid bitterness from the lime peel and pulp.
- This drink is not actually made with lemons despite the name; limes are used for the authentic Brazilian flavor.
