Ingredients
Dough
- 2 cups Bisquick baking mix
- 2/3 cup milk
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Filling
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
Glaze
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp milk
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch round baking pan or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Make the Dough: In a mixing bowl, combine Bisquick baking mix, milk, sugar, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Stir until a soft dough forms, ensuring all ingredients are well incorporated.
- Roll out Dough: Lightly flour a surface and roll the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick, preparing it for the filling.
- Add Filling: Spread the softened butter evenly over the rolled-out dough. Sprinkle the brown sugar and ground cinnamon uniformly over the buttered surface to create the classic cinnamon roll swirl.
- Roll and Slice: Starting from one edge, carefully roll the dough into a tight log. Slice this log into 8 equal pieces using a sharp knife or dental floss.
- Arrange in Pan: Place the sliced cinnamon roll pieces evenly spaced in the prepared baking pan for baking.
- Bake: Bake the rolls for 15-18 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and are cooked through.
- Prepare Glaze: While the rolls are baking, whip together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until the glaze is smooth and creamy.
- Glaze and Serve: Remove the warm cinnamon rolls from the oven and drizzle the glaze over them generously. Serve immediately while warm and enjoy.
Notes
- For best results, use room temperature ingredients to help the dough come together easily.
- You can substitute milk with a plant-based alternative for a dairy-free version.
- Ensure the rolls are baked until golden but not overbaked to keep them soft and tender.
- For a richer glaze, add a tablespoon of cream cheese to the glaze and whisk until smooth.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
