Ingredients
For the Casserole:
- 1 (16 oz) can refrigerated biscuits
- 1 pound breakfast sausage
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups whole milk
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 6 large eggs
- ½ cup milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Nonstick cooking spray
Instructions
- Preheat and Prep: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Cut biscuits into quarters and spread in dish.
- Cook Sausage: Brown and crumble sausage in a skillet over medium heat without draining fat. Stir in flour, cook for 1–2 minutes.
- Make Gravy: Gradually add 2 cups of milk to skillet, stirring until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
- Assemble: Pour sausage gravy over biscuits. Whisk eggs and milk, pour over casserole. Top with cheddar cheese.
- Bake: Bake for 35–40 minutes until set and golden. Let cool before serving.
Notes
- Enhance with green onions or mushrooms. Try spicy or turkey sausage. Prepare ahead and bake in the morning.
