Description

This Best Ever Pepper Steak recipe is a flavorful and satisfying dish that combines tender slices of steak with colorful bell peppers in a savory sauce. Perfect for a quick and delicious Asian-inspired meal at home.


Ingredients

Steak:

  • 1 ½ lbs flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (divided)

Vegetables:

  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced

For the sauce:

  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • ½ cup beef broth or water
  • 1 tsp cornstarch (mixed with 1 tbsp water)


Instructions

  1. Marinate the Steak: Combine sliced steak with soy sauce and cornstarch. Marinate for 15–20 minutes.
  2. Sear the Steak: Heat oil in a skillet, sear steak until browned. Set aside.
  3. Cook Vegetables: Sauté bell peppers, onion, garlic, and ginger.
  4. Make the Sauce: Whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, beef broth, and cornstarch mixture.
  5. Combine and Serve: Return steak to the pan, pour in the sauce, cook until thickened. Serve over rice or noodles.
