Ingredients
Steak:
- 1 ½ lbs flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil (divided)
Vegetables:
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
For the sauce:
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- ½ cup beef broth or water
- 1 tsp cornstarch (mixed with 1 tbsp water)
Instructions
- Marinate the Steak: Combine sliced steak with soy sauce and cornstarch. Marinate for 15–20 minutes.
- Sear the Steak: Heat oil in a skillet, sear steak until browned. Set aside.
- Cook Vegetables: Sauté bell peppers, onion, garlic, and ginger.
- Make the Sauce: Whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, beef broth, and cornstarch mixture.
- Combine and Serve: Return steak to the pan, pour in the sauce, cook until thickened. Serve over rice or noodles.
