Description

A hearty and comforting breakfast casserole that combines fluffy biscuits, savory sausage gravy, and eggs—perfect for feeding a crowd or meal prepping for the week.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb breakfast sausage
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk (for eggs)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Butter or non-stick spray (for greasing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and fully cooked. Do not drain the fat.
  3. Sprinkle flour over the cooked sausage and stir to combine. Cook for 1-2 minutes to eliminate the raw flour taste.
  4. Gradually whisk in the 2 1/2 cups of milk. Add salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Stir continuously until the mixture thickens into a gravy. Remove from heat.
  5. Cut the biscuits into quarters and layer half of them into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  6. Spoon the sausage gravy evenly over the biscuit pieces.
  7. In a bowl, whisk together eggs and 1/4 cup of milk. Pour over the gravy layer.
  8. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the eggs.
  9. Top with the remaining biscuit pieces.
  10. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and eggs are set.
  11. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • You can make the gravy ahead of time and refrigerate until ready to assemble.
  • Try adding chopped green onions or diced bell peppers for extra flavor.
  • Substitute turkey sausage for a lighter version.
