Description

A quick and flavorful beef and vegetable stir fry featuring tender sirloin, vibrant bell peppers, broccoli, and carrots, all tossed in a savory soy and oyster sauce marinade. Perfect for a nutritious weeknight dinner that comes together in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Beef and Marinade

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Vegetables

  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 cup carrots, thinly sliced

Other

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients. Slice the beef against the grain into thin strips and chop all vegetables into bite-sized pieces to ensure quick and even cooking.
  2. Marinate Beef. In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, grated ginger, minced garlic, and cornstarch. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes to tenderize the meat and infuse it with flavor.
  3. Sear Beef. Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and sear it for about 2 minutes until browned but still slightly undercooked; this preserves tenderness.
  4. Stir-Fry Vegetables. Add the sliced red and yellow bell peppers, broccoli florets, and thinly sliced carrots to the wok. Stir-fry the vegetables for 3 to 5 minutes until they become vibrant in color yet remain crisp.
  5. Combine and Finish. Pour the remaining marinade from the beef over the stir fry in the wok. Toss everything together and let it heat through for an additional minute before serving hot.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free version, substitute soy sauce with tamari or coconut aminos.
  • Oyster sauce can be omitted to make the dish vegetarian by using mushroom sauce as an alternative, though this changes the flavor profile.
  • Ensure vegetables are not overcooked to maintain crunch and nutrients.
  • Adjust the amount of garlic and ginger to taste for more or less pungency.
