A quick and flavorful Beef and Vegetable Stir Fry featuring tender sirloin beef and vibrant vegetables cooked in a savory soy and oyster sauce marinade. Perfect for a healthy and delicious weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
Beef
- 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
Vegetables
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1 cup carrots, thinly sliced
Aromatics and Sauce
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce (optional)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
Cooking Oil
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
- Prepare Ingredients: Slice the beef sirloin thinly against the grain to ensure tenderness, and chop all vegetables into bite-sized pieces for even cooking and easy eating.
- Marinate Beef: Combine the beef strips with soy sauce, oyster sauce, freshly grated ginger, minced garlic, and cornstarch in a bowl. Mix well and let marinate for at least 15 minutes to infuse flavors and tenderize the meat.
- Sear Beef: Heat vegetable oil in a wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and sear until it is browned on the outside but still slightly undercooked on the inside, which should take about 2 minutes. Remove beef and set aside if needed.
- Cook Vegetables: Add the sliced red and yellow bell peppers, broccoli florets, and thinly sliced carrots to the hot wok. Stir-fry them for 3 to 5 minutes until they become vibrant in color and maintain a crisp texture.
- Combine and Finish: Return the seared beef to the wok or add any reserved marinade. Pour any remaining marinade over the stir-fry and toss thoroughly to coat all ingredients. Continue cooking for an additional minute to heat everything through before serving.
Notes
- For a gluten-free option, substitute soy sauce with tamari or a gluten-free soy sauce alternative.
- Oyster sauce is optional but adds depth to the flavor; can be omitted for a lighter version.
- Make sure to slice beef thinly against the grain to keep it tender.
- Vegetables should remain slightly crisp to preserve texture and nutrients.
- Feel free to add other vegetables like snap peas or mushrooms according to preference.
