Description

Indulge in the delightful flavors of baklava in muffin form with these nut-filled treats soaked in a sweet honey syrup. Perfect for breakfast or dessert!

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Wet Ingredients:

  • 2 large eggs
  • ¾ cup milk
  • ⅓ cup plain yogurt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Nut Filling:

  • ¾ cup finely chopped walnuts
  • ¾ cup finely chopped pistachios
  • ½ cup finely chopped pecans
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Honey Syrup:

    • ½ cup honey
    • 2 tablespoons water
    • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
    • 1 teaspoon orange blossom water (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare muffin tin: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a 12-cup muffin tin with liners or by greasing lightly.
  2. Mix dry and wet ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together dry ingredients. In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, yogurt, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth. Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
  3. Prepare nut filling: Mix walnuts, pistachios, pecans, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  4. Assemble and bake: Fill muffin cups halfway with batter, add nut mixture, top with remaining batter, and sprinkle extra nut filling. Bake for 18–22 minutes.
  5. Make honey syrup: Simmer honey, water, lemon juice, and orange blossom water in a saucepan. Pour syrup over warm muffins.

Notes

  • Best served slightly warm.
  • Honey syrup can be made ahead and stored in the fridge.
  • For a crunchier top, broil muffins for 1–2 minutes at the end of baking.
