Description
A simple and healthy baked tilapia recipe featuring fresh fillets seasoned with lemon, garlic, and oregano, perfect for a quick and flavorful weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
Fish and Seasoning
- 4 fresh tilapia fillets (about 6 oz each)
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Prepare Oven and Dish: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly spray a baking dish with nonstick cooking spray to prevent the fish from sticking.
- Prepare Tilapia Fillets: Rinse the tilapia fillets under cold water, then pat them dry thoroughly with paper towels. Place the fillets evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- Season the Fish: Drizzle the extra virgin olive oil over the fillets. Squeeze the fresh lemon juice on top to add brightness. Sprinkle the garlic powder, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper evenly across all the fillets to infuse flavor.
- Bake the Fillets: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork, indicating it is fully cooked.
- Serve: Optionally add an extra splash of fresh lemon juice before serving. Enjoy the baked tilapia with your choice of steamed vegetables or rice for a complete meal.
Notes
- Make sure to pat the fillets dry so the seasoning sticks well and the fish bakes evenly.
- Fresh lemon juice brightens the flavor and can be added before or after baking.
- Check the fish at 15 minutes to avoid overcooking, as tilapia cooks quickly.
- Pair with steamed vegetables or rice for a balanced and healthy meal.
