- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 1/2 cup water
Dip Base
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup salsa
Toppings
- 2 cups shredded Mexican blend cheese, divided
- 1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
- 1/4 cup sliced black olives
- 2 green onions, sliced

Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) to get it ready for baking the dip later.
- Cook the meat: In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef or turkey until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat. Stir in the taco seasoning and water, then cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the seasoning is well incorporated.
- Prepare the base layer: In a bowl, blend the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and salsa until smooth. Spread this creamy mixture evenly into a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Assemble the dip: Spread the cooked taco meat evenly over the cream cheese mixture. Then sprinkle 1 1/2 cups of the shredded Mexican blend cheese evenly over the meat layer.
- Bake the dip: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Add fresh toppings: Remove the dip from the oven and top with chopped tomatoes, sliced black olives, green onions, and the remaining 1/2 cup shredded cheese.
- Serve: Serve the dip warm with tortilla chips for scooping and enjoy!
Notes
- You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey for a leaner option.
- For extra heat, add chopped jalapeños to the topping layer.
- Use low-fat cream cheese and sour cream to reduce the fat content.
- This dip can be prepared a day ahead; assemble and refrigerate, then bake just before serving.
- To make it vegetarian, use a plant-based ground meat substitute and ensure taco seasoning contains no animal products.
