Ingredients
Tofu
- 14 oz firm tofu
Marinade
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
Garnish
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure an even cooking temperature for the tofu.
- Press Tofu: Drain the tofu and press it gently between paper towels to remove excess moisture, which is key to achieving crispy tofu.
- Slice Tofu: Cut the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes or rectangles depending on your preference; smaller pieces crisp up better.
- Prepare Marinade: In a large bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon zest, lemon juice, black pepper, garlic powder, and salt to create a flavorful marinade.
- Marinate Tofu: Add the tofu pieces into the marinade bowl and gently toss to coat. Let the tofu marinate for about 10 minutes to absorb the fresh flavors.
- Arrange for Baking: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the tofu pieces in a single layer with space between them to ensure even crisping.
- Bake: Place the tofu in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping the pieces halfway through for uniform cooking.
- Check Crispiness: The tofu should be golden brown and crispy on the edges. If not, bake for an additional 5 minutes until you achieve the desired texture.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven, garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Pressing the tofu thoroughly helps remove moisture for maximum crispiness.
- Flipping the tofu halfway through baking ensures even browning.
- You can adjust lemon juice and pepper quantities to taste for more tang or spice.
- Serve as a protein addition to salads, grain bowls, or as a snack.
- Leftover tofu keeps well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
