Description

These irresistible sliders are a sweet, savory, and cheesy crowd-pleaser, layered with ham, Swiss cheese, and pineapple, then baked to golden perfection with a buttery, flavorful topping.

Ingredients

  • 1 package Hawaiian sweet rolls (typically 12-count)
  • 12 slices deli ham (thinly sliced)
  • 6-12 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup pineapple tidbits or slices (drained)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp poppy seeds
  • 1 tbsp minced onion or 1 tsp onion powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Without separating the rolls, slice the entire block of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally. Place the bottom half in the prepared baking dish.
  3. Layer ham evenly over the bottom halves, then top with Swiss cheese. Distribute pineapple tidbits or slices evenly over the cheese.
  4. Place the top halves of the rolls on top to form sandwiches.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, poppy seeds, and minced onion (or onion powder).
  6. Brush the butter mixture generously over the tops of the rolls.
  7. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 15 minutes, until the cheese is melted. Remove foil and bake an additional 8–10 minutes until the tops are golden brown and slightly crispy.
  8. Let cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.

Notes

  • Top with chopped chives, green onions, extra poppy seeds, or freshly ground pepper for added flavor and visual appeal.
  • Pairs well with salad, coleslaw, veggie platters, chips, or sweet potato fries.
  • Wrap in parchment for grab-and-go serving at parties or events.
  • To make ahead, assemble the sandwiches and refrigerate. Add the topping just before baking.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated up to 3 days or frozen up to 1 month.
