Description

This Baked Cranberry Brie Bread Bowl is a warm, festive appetizer perfect for holiday gatherings or cozy nights in. Creamy melted Brie cheese sits inside a hollowed sourdough bread boule, topped with a sweet and tangy mixture of fresh or dried cranberries, chopped nuts, honey, and cinnamon. Baked until bubbly and golden, it’s served with bread chunks or crackers for dipping, combining creamy, crunchy, and fruity flavors in every bite.

Ingredients

Bread Bowl and Cheese

  • 1 round bread boule (sourdough or any round loaf)
  • 1 wheel of Brie cheese

Topping

  • 1 cup fresh or dried cranberries
  • 1/2 cup pecans or walnuts, roughly chopped
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Fresh rosemary or thyme for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the bread bowl and Brie.
  2. Prepare the Bread Bowl: Cut the top off the bread boule and hollow out the center, leaving about a 1-inch thick shell to hold the cheese. Reserve the removed bread pieces for dipping later.
  3. Prepare the Brie: Cut the top rind off the Brie wheel and place the cheese inside the hollowed bread bowl.
  4. Make the Cranberry Topping: In a small bowl, combine the cranberries, chopped nuts, honey or maple syrup, and ground cinnamon. Spoon this mixture evenly over the Brie within the bread bowl.
  5. Bake: Place the filled bread bowl on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the Brie is melted, bubbly, and the bread is nicely toasted.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh rosemary or thyme if desired. Serve immediately with the reserved bread pieces, crackers, or sliced apples for dipping.

Notes

  • Use either fresh or dried cranberries based on availability and preference.
  • Substitute pecans with walnuts or any nuts of your choice.
  • Honey can be swapped for maple syrup to keep the topping vegan-friendly.
  • Removing the rind from the top of the Brie helps it melt more evenly.
  • Serve warm for best texture and flavor.
  • Leftover bread pieces make perfect dippers for the melted cheese.
