Description
Delicious and easy-to-make baked cheese buns with a soft, fluffy texture and a golden crust. Perfect as a snack or alongside your favorite meal, these buns combine the savory flavors of cheddar or mozzarella cheese with a light, airy yeast dough.
Ingredients
Dough
- 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 3/4 cup Warm Water (110°F)
- 1 tsp Sugar
- 1 tsp Salt
- 2 tsp Instant Yeast
- 2 tbsp Olive Oil
Filling
- 1 cup Shredded Cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
Instructions
- Activate yeast: In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and instant yeast. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy, which indicates the yeast is active.
- Mix dough: Gradually add the all-purpose flour and salt into the yeast mixture while stirring to form a smooth dough.
- Knead dough: Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead thoroughly for about 8 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Let dough rise: Place the kneaded dough into an oiled bowl, cover it with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour until it doubles in size.
- Shape buns: After the dough has risen, punch it down to release air. Divide and shape the dough into small balls, then place them evenly spaced on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake buns: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the buns for 15-20 minutes until they turn golden brown on top and are fully cooked inside.
Notes
- Use warm water set to 110°F for optimal yeast activation.
- Kneading thoroughly is essential to develop gluten for a soft and elastic dough.
- You can substitute cheddar with mozzarella or mix both cheeses for varied flavor.
- For extra flavor, sprinkle a little cheese on top before baking.
- Cool the buns on a wire rack to prevent sogginess.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
