Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 6 slices bacon, chopped
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
- 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of mushroom soup
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 (32 oz) bag frozen tater tots
- Pickle slices (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet, cook chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, cook ground beef and diced onion until browned and cooked through. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
- Drain any excess grease, then stir in ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and cream of mushroom soup until combined.
- Return bacon to the skillet and stir in half the shredded cheddar cheese.
- Spread the beef mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish. Top with an even layer of frozen tater tots and sprinkle with remaining cheese.
- Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes or until the tots are golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Top with pickle slices if desired.
Notes
- For crispier tater tots, broil the casserole for the last 3–5 minutes.
- Substitute cream of mushroom soup with cream of chicken or a homemade white sauce if preferred.
- Use precooked bacon or real bacon bits for quicker prep.
- Add jalapeños or hot sauce for a spicy kick, or mix in veggies like bell peppers or peas.
