Description

Amish Country Casserole is a hearty and comforting baked dish made with ground beef, pasta, and a creamy tomato sauce. It’s perfect for a cozy family dinner or potluck gathering.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cups egg noodles
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is browned and the onion is tender. Drain excess fat.
  3. Meanwhile, cook egg noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  4. In a large bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, cream of chicken soup, milk, sour cream, tomato sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Add the cooked beef mixture and noodles to the bowl and mix well to combine.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Top with shredded cheddar cheese if desired.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until hot and bubbly.
  8. Let sit for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for the ground beef.
  • For a crunchier topping, sprinkle crushed crackers or breadcrumbs over the cheese before baking.
  • Great for freezing; just thaw and reheat when needed.
